Who's who on the Neonatal Unit

Unit Manager Rachel McCoy Feeding Coordinators/Breastfeeding Support All staff on the unit are trained to support families with breast and all other types of feeding. Specialist feeding advisors are available via unit referral Bereavement Support Provided by the family liaison support team via unit referral Counselling Service/Psychological Support A neonatal psychologist works on the unit and can be utilised by all parents Play Specialists A play specialist is available, a copy of the timetable is available in the parent lounge
What to expect on arrival
Access to the unit Entry is via a locked door, please ring buzzer to gain access Who to ask for on arrival The nurse caring for your baby Who will give initial update on baby's condition The nurse caring for your baby can give updates at any time
Medical staff are available during the ward rounds and upon request Ward Round times Every morning starting at 9.30am Quiet time Daily between 2.00pm and 3.00pm Accommodation for parents 3 double bedrooms are available on the unit Accommodation for siblings Not available Meal Provision All meals provided to mothers staying overnight on the unit Self Catering Facilities Fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery available. Tea, coffee, milk, cordial, bread, butter, jam and marmalade are also provided free of charge Mobile Phones It is important that mobile phones are switched to silent and that telephone calls are made away from the cot side, in the public areas of the hospital as this helps to reduce noise levels which babies can find stressful. Mobile phones can be used to take photographs of your baby Breast Feeding Facilities/Equipment Breastfeeding room on the unit Mobile breast pumps are available for use at the cot side A number of breast pumps are also available to loan for use at home whilst baby is on the unit Sitting Area There is a sitting room on the unit Play Area/Facilities There are toys available in the sitting room
Children should be supervised at all times Parent Support Group A coffee morning providing parent support is run by ADAPT. Visiting Hours Open access for siblings
All other visitors between 2:00pm and 8:00pm

Access to a Midwife A midwife service is available for postnatal ladies from the ward and those who have been discharged home If you need to access this service, please speak to the nurse in charge on the unit
