If you are a parent or carer using the virtual tour to explore the neonatal unit where your baby was cared for, please ensure you are in a safe space and feel emotionally supported. Some parents have shared that revisiting the unit, even after some time, can trigger strong emotions, so please take care of yourself.

Feeding Coordinators/Breastfeeding Support
All staff are on the unit trained to support families with breast and all other types of feeding
Specialist feeding advisors are available via unit referral

Provided by the bereavement link nurse via unit referral
Counselling Service/Psychological Support
There is no support available on the unit. Support should be accessed through own GP
Play Specialists
Available on request from the Paediatric ward
What to expect on arrival
Access to the unit
Entry is via a locked door, please ring bell to gain access

The nurse in charge
Who will give initial update on baby's condition
The nurse caring for your baby can give updates at any time
Medical staff are available during the ward rounds and upon request
Ward Round times
Every morning starting at 10:30am
Quiet time
Daily between 12:30pm and 2:00pm
Accommodation for parents
3 small double bedrooms on the unit, 2 of which are ensuite on the unit
Accommodation for siblings
Not available
Meal Provision
Food and drink is provided to all parents resident on the unit and to breastfeeding mothers
Self Catering Facilities
Microwave, fridge freezer, crockery and cutlery available. Cereals, bread and milk are also provided free of charge
Mobile Phones
It is important that mobile phones are switched to silent and that telephone calls are made away from the cot side, in the public areas of the hospital as this helps to reduce noise levels which babies can find stressful. Mobile phones can be used to take photographs of your baby
Breast Feeding Facilities/Equipment
There is an expressing room on the unit
Mobile breast pumps are available for use at the cot side
Sitting Area
There is a sitting room and a quiet room on the unit
Play Area/facilities
There are toys available in the parent sitting room. Children should be supervised at all times
Parent Support Group
This Neonatal Unit has its own Facebook support group run by parents, you can join here ()or search Facebook for Kangaroo Club. Please note this group is only open to parents of preterm/term babies who are or have been on the Neonatal Unit at Lincoln County Hospital.

Lincoln Hotel, Eastgate, LN2 1PN or The White Heart Hotel, Bailgate, Lincoln, LN1 3AR both are approximately a 5 minute drive from the hospital

Interpreters are available through Language Line and can be arranged by the unit staff
Religious & Spiritual Support
There is a chapel within the Hospital. Call chaplaincy support is available 24 hours a day providing for all faiths
