If you are a parent or carer using the virtual tour to explore the neonatal unit where your baby was cared for, please ensure you are in a safe space and feel emotionally supported. Some parents have shared that revisiting the unit, even after some time, can trigger strong emotions, so please take care of yourself.

All staff on the unit are trained to support families with breast and all other types of feeding.
Specialist feeding advisors are available via unit referral
Bereavement Support
Provided by the bereavement midwife via unit referral
Counselling Service/Psychological Support
A neonatal psychologist works on the unit and can be utilised by all parents’
Play Specialists
Available on request from the Paediatric ward.
What to expect on arrival
Access to the unit
Entry is via a locked door accessed through the paediatric ward (Disney), please ring buzzer to gain access
Who to ask for on arrival
The ward co-ordinator or the nurse caring for your baby
Who will give initial update on baby's condition
The nurse caring for your baby can give updates at any time.
Medical staff are available during the ward rounds and upon request
Ward Round times
Monday starting at 9.30am, Tuesday to Sunday starting at 08.45am
Quiet time
There is no dedicated quiet time. The unit promotes a quiet and peaceful environment at all times
Accommodation for parents
2 double en-suite bedrooms available just off the unit

Meal Provision
Meals are provided for all parents
Self Catering Facilities
Microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery available. Snack bar containing a variety of biscuits, chocolate, crisps, fruit bars and soup are also provided free of charge
Mobile Phones
It is important that mobile phones are switched to silent and that telephone calls are made away from the cot side, in the public areas of the hospital as this helps to reduce noise levels which babies can find stressful. Mobile phones can be used to take photographs of your baby
Breast Feeding Facilities/Equipment
There is a Breastfeeding/expressing room on the unit.
Mobile breast pumps are available for use at the cot side
Sitting Area
There is a sitting room and a quiet room on the unit
Play Area/facilities
There are a small number of toys available in the sitting room.
Children should be supervised at all times
