If you are a parent or carer using the virtual tour to explore the neonatal unit where your baby was cared for, please ensure you are in a safe space and feel emotionally supported. Some parents have shared that revisiting the unit, even after some time, can trigger strong emotions, so please take care of yourself.
Who's who on the Neonatal Unit
Matron Ellen Cutler Unit Manager Sophie Webster Feeding Coordinators/Breastfeeding Support All staff on the unit are trained to support families with breast and all other types of feeding. Specialist feeding advisors are available via unit referral Bereavement Support Provided by the neonatal bereavement nurse and bereavement support midwife via unit referral Counselling Service/Psychological Support A neonatal psychologist works on the unit and can be utilised by all parents Play Specialists None
What to expect on arrival
Access to the unit Entry is via a locked door, please ring buzzer to gain access Who to ask for on arrival The nurse in charge or the nurse caring for your baby Who will give initial update on baby's condition The nurse caring for your baby can give updates at any time
Medical staff are available during the ward rounds and upon request Ward Round times Every day between 11:00am and 1:00pm
Quiet time Daily between 1:30pm and 2:30pm
Accommodation for parents 6 bedrooms are available on Ward B26 2 ensuite rooming in bedrooms on the unit for parents to get used to caring for their baby just prior to discharge
Accommodation for siblings Not available Meal Provision All parents get meal vouchers
Self Catering Facilities Fridge, microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery available. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread and butter are also provided free of charge Mobile Phones It is important that mobile phones are switched to silent and that telephone calls are made away from the cot side, in the public areas of the hospital as this helps to reduce noise levels which babies can find stressful. Mobile phones can be used to take photographs of your baby Breast Feeding Facilities/Equipment There is a expressing room on the unit Mobile breast pumps are available for use at the cot side A number of breast pumps are also available to loan for use at home whilst baby is on the unit Sitting Area There is a sitting room with TV and a quiet room on the unit Play Area/facilities There is a toy box located in the parent sitting room. Children should be supervised at all times Parent Support Group Our parent support group is called Nottingham Neonatal Family Group, and is held on the second Wednesday of every month at Trent Vineyard

Please note the group is only open to parents of preterm/term babies who are or have been on the Neonatal Unit at either Nottingham QMC or City Campus
Nearest B&B/Hotels for other family members De Vere Jubilee Conference Centre, Triumph Road, Nottingham, NG8 1DH, which is approximately a 5 minute drive away from the hospital There are a number of other B&B/Hotels which are all within a 5 minute drive
Visiting Hours Open access for siblings
Other visitors between 2:00pm and 4:00pm and between 6:00pm and 9:00pm
Numbers allowed per cot 3 (one of these must be a parent) Restrictions All visitors must be accompanied by a parent No children under 14 (siblings excluded)

Access to a Midwife A midwife service is available for postnatal ladies from the ward and those who have been discharged home If you need to access this service, please speak to the nurse in charge on the unit
