Access to a Midwife
A midwife service is available for postnatal ladies from the ward and those who have been discharged home

If you need to access this service, please speak to the nurse in charge on the unit
Catering and Shops (on site)
- Spice of Life restaurant on 6th floor - Café on ground floor near outpatients - volunteer run shop with funds going back into hospital - WH Smith in hospital main entrance - Stock Shop (Ladies Fashion) in hospital main entrance - Costa Coffee in hospital main entrance

There is a faith centre within the hospital. Call chaplaincy support is available 24 hours a day providing for all faiths

Who will give initial update on baby's condition
The nurse caring for your baby can give updates at any time.
Medical staff are available during the ward rounds and upon request

Ward Round times
Every day, usually late morning on weekdays.
There are ward rounds at the weekend but times vary

Quiet time
Daily between 12.00pm and 2.00pm

Accommodation for parents
3 double en-suite bedrooms are available on the unit

Accommodation for siblings
Not available

Meal Provision
Parents can be provided with a meal voucher for £3.00 for use in the hospital restaurant

Self Catering Facilities
Hot water boiler, microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery available. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread and cereal are also provided free of charge

Mobile Phones
It is important that mobile phones are switched to silent and that telephone calls are made away from the cot side, in the public areas of the hospital as this helps to reduce noise levels which babies can find stressful. Mobile phones can be used to take photographs of your baby

Breast Feeding Facilities/Equipment
There is an expressing room on the unit
Mobile breast pumps are available for use at the cot side
A number of breast pumps are also available to loan for use at home whilst baby is on the unit

Sitting Area
There is a sitting room with TV and a quiet room on the unit

Play Area/facilities
There is a play area available. Children should be supervised at all times

Parent Support Group
Our parent support group is called Mini Miracles and is held on the third Friday of every month at the Summer House Children's Centre, Clare Road, Sutton in Ashfield. For further information please speak to a member of staff. The unit also has its own Facebook support group run by parents, you can join here or search Facebook for Mini Miracles Parents Group. Please note this group is only open to parents of preterm/term babies who are or have been on the neonatal unit
